‘TwoTwo’ is the latest effort from Meadow Meadow, the recording project of Peter Darlington and James Green. The impact of the coronavirus lockdown can be felt throughout the track, which was recorded remotely in Manchester and London, thanks to the presence of “a scratchy webcam recording of the piano chords which is still the base of the song. [They] then added the drums, guitar and some percussion and from there the structure came together. Lyrically, TwoTwo details lost friendships, different paths and anxiety about the future.” Despite a powerful lyrical basis, the track brings warm textures and jumpy percussion to the foreground, adding a summery feeling to the field recordings and synth sounds. ‘TwoTwo’ can be found on their upcoming self-titled EP. - Dan Peeke
